Armenian PM delivers opening remarks at EEU session, highlights creation of single financial market

STEPANAKERT, AUGUST 9,  ARTSAKHPRESS-ARMENPRESSThe session is being held at Cholpon-Ata, a town in the Issyk-Kul Oblast.

Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev welcomed the heads of government of the EEU member states at the Aytmatov Ruh Orda Cultural Center, the venue where the session is held.

Narrow and expanded format meetings were held afterwards.

Since Armenia is currently presiding in the EEU, PM Pashinyan delivered opening remarks.

He thanked his Kyrgyz counterpart for the warm reception and hospitality and the high level organization of the session.

“At the narrow format meeting we’ve already exchanged ideas and decided the conceptual issues concerning today’s agenda. Nevertheless, I would like to draw your attention on certain aspects of the issues which we discussed and which are of important significance for our countries. In terms of the regulation of the alcohol market I find it necessary to note that members of the Union are generally in favor of eliminating the obstacles in this sector. This is a primary direction for Armenia and it has broad export opportunities in the Eurasian Economic Union markets.
We find the final decision-making regarding the distribution of imports customs duties between the budgets of member states of the EEU to be important. This issue is being discussed already for a long time in our organizations, and it is necessary to solve it as soon as possible.
We attach special importance to the creation of a single EEU financial market. Particularly, the “Agreement on Harmonizing the Legislation of EEU member states in the Financial Market”, which must come into force in 2020, will contribute to reaching this goal. The signing of agreements regarding allowing the brokers and dealers of one country to participate in trade organized in stock exchanges of other member states is also of significant importance in this matter. In this issue we find the provision of opportunity for information exchange regarding bond distribution and circulation and credit histories in tenders organized in member states to be important,” Pashinyan said in the outset of his remarks.

Pashinyan also told his colleagues that during his recent trips to Singapore and Vietnam Armenia paid special attention to issues of cooperation between the EEU and these countries.

Pashinyan said that he has invited the President of Iran to participate in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council session which will take place in Yerevan in autumn.
