At the initiative of the "Free Homeland" Party, a baptism ceremony of around 60 soldiers took place in Stepanakert’s Conciliar Church of Intercession.

STEPANAKERT, MAY 17,  ARTSAKHPRESS: Before the ceremony, soldiers with their godfathers, relatives of Robert Abajyan, Andranik Zohrabyan and Sasun Mkrtchyan, who fell victim during the 4-day war in April and guests visited the Stepanakert Memorial Complex  and paid tribute to  to fallen heroes of the war.
After the baptism ceremony, schoolchildren greeted the soldiers in the courtyard of the conciliar Church of Intercession. Children gave the soldiers postcards and performed folk dances.
In an interview with “Artsakhpress”, Chairman of the Women's Council of “Free Homeland” Party Romela Dadayan said. “In this way, we raise the spirit of military-patriotic upbringing of soldiers, as well as strengthen army-society relations.
Gevorg Abajyan, a godfather of a group of soldiers, speaking about the meaning of the day, noted that he is excited and impressed.

"To be a godfather of soldiers create other  feelings; it is too responsible for us,” he noted.

According to the baptized soldier, Lisandr Hovsepyan, the ceremony is of great importance to him. It gave him a new strength. He also mentioned that it is a great honor for him that his godfather is Robert Abajyan's grandfather, Gevorg Abajyan.
