STEPANAKERT,  FEBRUARY 8, ARTSAKHPRESS: It is an anti-war drama. The play portrays the difficult relationship between men, who wanted to fight, and their mothers and loved ones who did not want them to go.
The father of the family and his four sons fell victim in different circumstances. The youngest son, Tony wants to go to war. And here the maternal love conflicts with the debt to the motherland.
In an interview with "Artsakhpress", the author of the performance, director, as well as the leading actor, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Lala Mnatsakanyan said that the play was staged for the first time in 2012.
The idea originated a few years ago when I read Karel Čapek’s "Mother"play. The Czech writer wrote it in 1938, but the subject is universal and it is actual till now. The play is about infinite love of mothers. The play is about war which destroys human destinies. It is mentioned in the play that mothers never wage war, but pay at the risk of their children’s life. And mother even sends her last son to the battlefield when the homeland is in danger,”added Mnatsakanyan.
Armen Karapetyan, who embodies the image of the father, said in an interview with “Artsakhpress: "The father is a military officer who participates in the First World War. At that time the officers were mainly nobles. He is an aristocratic hero who fell victim because of the commanders' mistake. At the same time, the father of a family is a caring and devoted spouse whose children want to be like him. And everybody is trying to justify the hopes of the fallen father, "said A. Karapetyan.
According to him, Karel Čapek wrote the story with the help of his wife. "
The story is real. His wife always going to church saw there a woman in black clothes. When the writer's wife talked to that woman, she told her story. Being excited and enthusiastic about this story, Karel Čapek wife advised his husband to write a similar work.
